Go Construct Sponsors STEMFest Sunderland

15th Oct 2024

Go Construct sponsored STEMFest Sunderland, which took place last week at the iconic Beacon of Light. The three-day event engaged, enthused and inspired young people into the world of STEM through exploring hands-on exhibits and learning about real-world STEM careers directly from industry experts.

The event took place from the 8th - 10th October and  welcomed 65 exhibitors and 3,000 schoolchildren from both primary and secondary years. The event, coordinated by the STEM Hub, delivered by RTC North, was held in partnership with the Foundation of Light.

Focussing on the North Easts growing sectors there were STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) themed zones including Space, Cyber and Technology, Environment and Energy, and Manufacturing.

Go Construct is funded by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB). Its purpose is to help people access the information they need to consider a career in construction and to help fulfil the sector's need for a larger and more representative workforce. Go Construct offers valuable resources for anyone pursuing a career in the construction and built environment sectors. By highlighting the diverse and rewarding opportunities available, it supports individuals from all backgrounds in entering this dynamic, rapidly growing industry, one that plays a vital role in shaping the UK’s housing, industry, and infrastructure.

Richard Bullock, Head of Career Products at CITB, comments: “We’re delighted to have sponsored STEMFest Sunderland. Go Construct is here to support people from every walk of life to pursue a rewarding career in the construction industry – offering information and inspiration, and connecting them with opportunities to find fulfilling, engaging roles that are right for them.

Go Construct aligns perfectly with STEMFest’s mission to inspire to secure a future STEM workforce. It recognises the critical need to highlight the diverse range of opportunities, an essential focus of STEMFest.

Claire Willis, Team Leader at the STEM Hub comments:

We were thrilled to welcome Go Construct as a sponsor for STEMFest Sunderland. Without this generous support we wouldn’t be able to run these events. I also want to thank all of our other sponsors for their support of our work with schools across the North."
