Navigating 2024 – transformative opportunities, economic realities and the road to a sustainable future

18th Jan 2024

It's fair to say that with rampant inflation, the cost of living crisis, talent shortages, geopolitics, disrupted supply chains, and continued Covid recovery, 2023 came with its challenges. Simultaneously, powerful forces were at play, poised to reshape our economy, environment, and society. Notable among them are the push for net zero, the ascent of artificial intelligence, and shifts in the geopolitical scene. I expect 2024 to be a tale of two halves, with one representing substantial change, transformation, and opportunities, and the other characterised by sluggish growth and increasing risks.

One of the best things about working at RTC is that we get to work with entrepreneurs and innovators everyday who recognise and tune into the opportunities. While overall economic growth projections remain modest, sectors like space exploration, energy, and electric vehicles are expected to experience significant surges in demand. In addition, technologies such as artificial intelligence will allow us to do things that were unimaginable a few years ago which will pave the way for new product, service, process, and business model innovation.

Those people and businesses who tune into these areas of growing demand, emerging markets, and technological advancement will be at the forefront of shaping a more productive, sustainable, and inclusive future.

At RTC, the shifts of 2023 prompted our growth. We've expanded our team, delving into key technologies and growth markets, forming new collaborations, and broadening our geographic footprint. Our mission remains steadfast – to assist organisations in the North of England to innovate, compete, and grow, making sure that we are armed with the necessary knowledge, experience, and expertise.

As a socially driven business, our commitment extends beyond capitalising on opportunities with businesses. We also strive to ensure that individuals across society are connected with the opportunities that arise. That's why, in 2024, we are doubling down on enhancing STEM skills in younger generations, connecting them with areas of opportunity and future careers.

The team at RTC looks forward with excitement and optimism, eager to collaborate with people and businesses throughout 2024 in forging a more sustainable, equal, and prosperous future. For more information, please visit RTC North :: Our Services
