Cummins, a global power technology leader that designs, manufactures, distributes, and services a broad portfolio of power solutions, has taken the headline sponsorship for this year’s STEMFest to be held at the beginning of July at Vertu Motors Arena.

More than 3,000 north east schoolchildren are being given the opportunity to explore a future career in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) sectors across three-days.

STEMFest is an interactive exhibition connecting nine to 13-year-olds with over 50 of the region’s STEM companies committed to providing job opportunities now and in the future to support the next generation into the sector and to bolster the North East’s economy.

Craig Thomas, Plant Manager for Darlington said: “It’s great to be sponsoring such an influential event. Our Darlington campus hosts a range of over 1600 skilled employees across design, engineering, finance, health, and safety and many more functions. It is vitally important we inspire the next generation of engineers and that we ensure a pipeline of people with the right skills”.

Wayne Spooner, Darlington Technical Operations Director said: “What a fantastic event to be part of, with so many advancements, developments and exciting projects ongoing at the Darlington Campus we feel it’s so important to highlight to young people how rewarding a career in STEM can be, and there are so many opportunities so close to home”

“Cummins have always been big supporters of STEM initiatives, so it is a great compliment for the event that they have taken headline sponsorship.
