STEMFest 2023 Welcomes Lockheed Martin as Latest Sponsor
24th May 2023
The highly anticipated STEMFest 2023, set to inspire and connect over 3,000 schoolchildren to potential careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), has welcomed Lockheed Martin as its latest sponsor.
The global security and aerospace company will sponsor the Space zone at the event, which is set to take place at the Vertu Motors Arena this July.
This event is organised by the North East STEM Hub which is delivered by RTC North. It offers attending young people the opportunity to meet with regional businesses and employers. This year the event will be focused on four different themed zones: Space, Technology (Cyber Security), Environment and Energy, and Manufacturing.
Nik Smith, Lockheed Martin’s Regional Director for UK and Europe, said “Lockheed Martin is excited to be the Space Zone Sponsor for STEMFest 2023. Developing the next generation of scientists and engineers is vital for securing our nation’s position as a leader in space and other high-tech sectors. We believe STEMFest will play a huge part in that, and we are committed to empowering the UK’s vision and capabilities for future space missions.”
Claire Willis, North East STEM Hub’s Team Leader and coordinator of STEMFest comments: “I want to thank Lockheed Martin for supporting our event. The space sector is a real up and coming industry in the North East with a huge number of opportunities becoming available in the future. STEMFest is a fantastic opportunity to connect the young people in our region to a range of STEM businesses and showcase different career options available to them, particularly showcasing the range of roles and different skills needed to support this growing sector.”
Claire adds “With business support we can in return support the next generation into their sectors and work towards recruiting their future workforce to support the region’s economy. Without ongoing support from businesses including Lockheed Martin and our headline sponsor this year, Cummins, events like this simply couldn’t take place.”
