Tech Climbers Highlights High-Growth Tech Businesses

07th May 2026

The launch of this year’s Tech Climbers list highlighted the continued strength of the North’s technology sector, with a number of RTC North clients recognised among the region’s most exciting high-growth tech businesses.

Companies including UAP, Ocuwell, MyCardium, Vidivet, Harker Technologies and Tomstech were all featured, each representing a different part of the North West’s innovation landscape.

While their sectors vary, from healthcare and veterinary technology through to advanced manufacturing and security, they are all focused on developing practical solutions to real-world challenges, often in areas that require deep technical expertise and long-term investment.

The latest Tech Climbers data reflects a region entering a more mature phase of growth, with £81 million expected to be generated by entrants in the year ahead and 236 new jobs forecast across the cohort. Many of the businesses recognised are working in areas such as health and wellbeing, sustainability and intelligent systems, where innovation is closely linked to wider societal and industry needs.

The companies that RTC North has worked with and supported through different stages of growth reflect this shift.

UAP has built a strong international presence in the security sector, developing access control solutions that are used across global markets. Ocuwell is focused on improving eye health through technology, while MyCardium is developing solutions aimed at advancing cardiac care. Vidivet has created a digital platform that connects pet owners with qualified veterinary professionals, making expert advice more accessible and responsive.

Alongside this, Harker Technologies and Tomstech are applying engineering and technical expertise to support industry, whether through improving operational efficiency, supporting product development or addressing challenges linked to sustainability and manufacturing processes.

The inclusion of these businesses in this year’s Tech Climbers cohort reflects both individual ambition and the strength of the wider ecosystem that supports growth across the region.

Reaching this stage requires more than a strong idea or product. It involves refining strategy, strengthening leadership capability and preparing for the demands that come

with scaling into new markets. Access to the right support at the right time continues to play an important role in helping businesses navigate that transition.

At RTC North, working alongside companies through these stages of growth is a core part of what we do, supporting businesses as they navigate complexity, unlock opportunities and build the foundations needed for long-term success.

“RTC North’s support has been instrumental in helping us accelerate our development and bring innovative ideas to market. It’s fantastic to see such strong recognition for the businesses involved at Tech Climbers.” Commented Thomas Bather, Director of Tomstech.

For the businesses recognised, inclusion in the Tech Climbers list marks an important point in their development, as they continue to grow, scale and contribute to a more established and resilient innovation economy across the North.
