A 4 week programme to uncover the changing situation in the construction sector, and find out about the exciting emerging trends to fuel your decision making process.

Outline structure (Tentative Dates)

This will be delivered through 4 weekly sessions.

  • 7th September - Workshop 1 Construction sector, how this is changing, emerging trends and what opportunity this creates
  • 14h September - Workshop 2 Industry 4.0, AI, digital construction, OSM & productivity
  • 21st September - Workshop 3 Routes to market, strategies and opportunity
  • 28th September - Workshop 4 Alignment & collaboration

Tom Jarman

Tom Jarman is an independent consultant working in construction, infrastructure and housing. He has over 15 years of experience in the construction sector, including project development, project and programme management, sustainability, Planning, newbuild, retrofit and Building Information Modelling. This extensive client-side experience has informed his views on client leadership, organisational risk and resilience, and procurement, particularly how organisations can invest in outcomes, performance and quality, and maintain a clear line of sight from project inception to operation.

Tom is a member of the Construction Leadership Council, where he is engaged in the Housing workstream, including specific work on areas such as the Smart Construction Dashboard. He is a member of the Advisory Boards for Constructing Excellence in the North East and IC3, the International Centre for Connected Construction. He is a Certified Member of the Chartered Institute of Housing, and his professional commitment includes writing, blogging and presenting on key construction and clienting issues. In 2019 he received the CENE Award for Outstanding Achievement.

 

Kate Lloyd

A Civil Engineer by profession, Kate has worked within the construction industry for over 20 years, starting as a Site Engineer in the North East of England. Following a couple of years as a teaching associate at Newcastle University, she then started working for CITB in the Careers and Education team.

Between 2007 - 2011 Kate managed the Women and Work: Sector Pathways Initiative across England which supported over 4000 women through training and networking opportunities in construction. This work informed the development of the Fairness, Inclusion and Respect programme, a national initiative to drive inclusion across the construction industry and Kate continues to be involved in the delivery of the programme. Kate joined Constructing Excellence North East in 2017 and manages large events and business development opportunities.

During 2019 and early 2020 she consulted with the region’s construction industry and wrote the One Voice, North East England Construction Strategy, 2020-2025. She now manages OneVoice, the collective voice of the North East England construction industry, an inclusive region wide partnership including organisations from all aspects of construction.

Supply Chain North East brings together four key partners to work with over 800 businesses through to 2021, supporting them to identify opportunities in new and existing markets. An integral part of the North East Strategic Economic Plan, that has a vision to create 100,000 more and better jobs between 2014 and 2024. Supply Chain North East is delivered across the region by RTC North, Generator, North East Automotive Alliance (NEAA) and North East Process Industry Cluster (NEPIC).

Supply Chain North East is a multimillion programme aimed at revolutionising the way SMEs diversify their offering and embrace new markets. The programme has received more than £3m of funding from the England European Regional Development Fund, which is part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020.
