A Journey to Revolutionise Nutrition with Mushroom-Based Innovation
Through the support of the Innovative Entrepreneurs Programme, Faizaan, who has only recently completed his master’s degree at the University of Leeds, is on the verge of launching his first product into market, a vitamin D extract derived from mushrooms. With a strong scientific foundation and an active patent process for the production method, he is ready to enter the market with a clear business model and strategic marketing plan.
Design Thinking
Design thinking can significantly improve any products, services or business. We develop communities of design led businesses and spread their influence to maximise economic impact. Our expert team of designers and design thinking practitioners achieve this through:

Royal National Lifeboat Institution with design campaign
RTC North worked with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) to design messaging to ensure people are aware about safe crossing times onto Holy Island.
There have been more than 50 emergency call outs to motorists stuck on or by the Holy Island causeway in the last five years and numbers are increasing.
Finance & Funding
The costs of developing, testing and bringing new products and services to market are significant and the achievement of commercial returns can take time requiring patient forms of investment. Our team of innovation practitioners work with businesses to:
- Model and establish the investment required at each stage of the innovation cycle
- Identify appropriate forms and sources of finance such as grant funding, debt and equity finance
- To work with businesses to create the applications and business cases required to secure funding
